The first tax return, introduced in 1913 as a "temporary tax" to fund World War I, was one page
with two pages of  instructions. The tax code has grown to more than 1,300 forms and 80,000+ pages
of instructions. Since the last major "tax reform" in 1986, Congress has made more than 15,000
changes to the tax code!

Whether we like it or not, today's tax laws and forms are complicated to the extent that even filing a "simple" return can be confusing. It's just too easy to overlook possible deductions and credits even when using a computer software program such as TurboTax. Even the "big box" preparers charge high fees and usually close the local office on April 16, the day after tax returns are due--what happens then if an IRS notice arrives? Our office is open all year.

When we prepare your tax return, you benefit knowing that the return is complete and accurate and we'll be around all year if notices appear.

  • the tax return will be carefully checked to identify areas that the IRS may look at more closely
  • all tax returns (with the exception of a few local returns that must be paper-filed) are filed electronically at no additional charge and refunds can be direct deposited to your checking or savings account
  • we can show you how to adjust your payroll withholding to increase your tax home pay and still not pay extra at year e
  • we can  identify potential ways to limit your tax liability next year

Own a business? Books a mess! No problem.

If you run you own business and haven't kept on your paperwork, don't worry! We can help. We'll assemble your bookkeeping for the year and prepare a Schedule C or an S-corp return. Then we'll help you set up an easy system that allows you to keep your books in good shape all year.
